INDY FOP ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF NEW CRIME PREVENTION EFFORTS BY POLICE GROUP
Recent Wave of Violent Crime and Neglectful Child Gun Deaths Spurred Effort
INDIANAPOLIS – On Monday April 7, 2014, the Indianapolis Fraternal Order of Police announced their efforts to address the need for youth education and prevention programs. As a result, the FOP is reaching out to our local youth to educate them about crime prevention. We are modeling our youth education and crime prevention program based on the four cornerstones: Gun Safety, Bullying Prevention, Drug Awareness and Gang Awareness.
With our community’s help the FOP will be able to reach out and educate elementary aged children to highlight the importance of crime prevention. The future of Indianapolis depends on our youth.
Being educated and informed is the first step of crime prevention.
The FOP’s goal is to raise enough money to purchase both the McGruff crime prevention and Eddie Eagle gun safety curriculums and costumes. Having these lesson plans and costumes will allow the FOP to better connect with local children leaving a memorable experience from our youth education and crime prevention programs. The FOP is working to pilot the programs in local schools by the Fall of 2014. Financial support can be made through the Indianapolis Police Foundation of the FOP at www.fop86.org or by contacting the lodge at (317) 637-1195.
