American Legion Post 56
AMERICAN LEGION POLICE POST 56 Police Post 56 started in 1929 by members of the Indianapolis Police Department who were veterans of the great war (World War I). Over the years the post has met in several different locations until the 1940’s when they started their association with the FOP Lodge 86. There has been a change of who is eligible to become a member of The American Legion. The American Legion changed the by-laws to show that the United States has been at a state of war since WWII. If you served in the military you are eligible to belong. Post 56 meets every third Thursday of the month at the FOP Lodge, 1525 S Shelby Street. The meeting starts at 6:00 pm. The FOP kitchen is open and serving food and beverages. In the mean time stay safe out there. If you have questions please contact Post 56 Commander Delbert R Shelton at americanlegion56@gmail.com.
